Explore the Beauty of Botanical Gardens

Your guide to peaceful strolls through Salaspils Dendrarium and the National Botanical Garden

Our Philosophy

Why We're Here

We believe gardens aren't just collections of plants — they're spaces where people slow down and reconnect. Whether you're 65 or younger, there's something special about walking through trees that've been growing for decades, discovering hidden benches beside water features, and learning the stories behind each species. We're not here to sell memberships or push you toward some destination. We're here to help you find your favorite corner of these gardens and come back to it again and again.

Every path matters. Every rest area serves a purpose. The Salaspils Dendrarium holds over 2,000 plant species from around the world. The National Botanical Garden has distinct themed sections that unfold like chapters of a book. We've created guides so you can navigate at your own pace, discover what calls to you, and enjoy these spaces without rushing.

Walking through a botanical garden should feel easy, peaceful, and full of discovery. That's what we're focused on — making sure you have the information you need to explore these incredible places comfortably and with genuine enjoyment.

Getting Started

How to Plan Your Visit

1

Choose Your Season

Spring brings flowering trees and fresh growth. Summer offers full canopy shade. Autumn shows vibrant colors. Winter's quieter if you prefer fewer crowds. Each season reveals different parts of the gardens.

2

Pick Your Trail

We've mapped out the main paths at both locations. Some are short and easy — perfect for a 30-minute stroll. Others take a few hours if you like to linger and explore. You don't need special equipment, just comfortable shoes.

3

Find Rest Spots

Both gardens have benches, shaded areas, and water features placed throughout. We've identified the best rest areas so you can take breaks without losing your way. Some offer views, others provide quiet corners for reflection.

4

Bring Your Own Pace

There's no "correct" way to experience these gardens. Spend 30 minutes or half a day. Read every plant label or just enjoy the views. Come back to your favorite spots. It's your time, your garden, your way.

Our Journey

How We Got Here

2018

Started Exploring

A small group began documenting paths and features at Salaspils Dendrarium. We realized there wasn't a guide specifically for older visitors who wanted detailed, honest information about accessibility and pacing.

2020

Expanded to Botanical Garden

We mapped the National Botanical Garden's trails and rest areas. Interviewed regular visitors. Tested routes with seniors from the community to make sure our guides were practical and accurate.

2022

Published First Guides

Released detailed walking guides with photos, distance estimates, and information about each trail. Hundreds of visitors started using them. Feedback was honest and helpful — people told us what worked and what we'd missed.

2024

Seasonal Updates

We started tracking seasonal changes — when trees flower, where shade is densest in summer, which areas get quiet in winter. Now our guides help you plan visits that match what you want to experience.

2026

Today

We're still here, still updating, still listening to what visitors tell us. The guides keep improving because people like you keep using them and sharing what you discover.
